FAQ

- Which are the advantages of laminated wood carpentry comparing to PVC carpentry or aluminium thermo-pane windows and doors?
- The laminated wood carpentry has the best qualities comparing to the others:
- thermal protection – laminated wood has the lowest thermal transfer coefficient, much lower than PVC carpentry or aluminium profiles:
- 0.35 – for evergreen, coniferous;
- 0.50 – for deciduous trees;
- 1.00 - for other materials;
- durability - higher mechanical resistance, due to the modern lamination process and to  the great natural qualities of wood species;
- great adaptability to your needs - you can paint or enamel laminated wood - any colour you wish;
-  beautiful natural aspect, like the wood fibre;
- functionality – it permits quick and easy local repairs;
- safety – laminated wood has excellent anti-theft and bullet proof properties, a great resistance on impact (it can stand even at impact of a Kalashnikov-type bullet);
- healthy environment – laminated wood represents a natural and ecological material.
- Can you manufacture round windows using laminated wood?
- Sure we can – a great variety, in many different shapes, and what is really interesting we manufactured not only simple curved windows, but even some superb laminated wood special windows and doors for very old churches and monasteries. As you know, the requirements for such historic monuments’ restorations are completely different to a normal modern building, because of so many unusual and unconventional construction elements (i.e. arcades, arches, vaults, rosettes etc.). We manufactured some stained glass laminated wood door - for arcades and a beautiful special laminated wood door for a monastery.
- What do you recommend in order to maintain the perfect aspect of laminated wood carpentry?
- When you decide to place an order to ECO Strat, you have already saved lots of time and effort, because we use only top-quality wood paints and enamels. What we can recommend is that, after approx. 5 years since the installation, you should try one of the maintenance kits for laminated wood (consisting of a cleaning solution and a protective wax).
The greatest challenge for the laminated wood windows and doors is to resist a longer time in direct sunlight (not only because of UV radiation, but also because of the significant gradient of temperature summer/ winter, -20/ +40 C). In order to avoid any damages (but not sooner than 4-5 years after the installation of laminated wood carpentry), we recommend you to use the maintenance kit for laminated wood. Of course, this will depend on the degree of exposure to direct sunlight. We have some customers who installed the carpentry 6 years ago and there is no need to start using the kit.
If you will speak to any PVC carpentry or aluminium thermo-pane windows and doors producers, they will underline that for wood there are additional maintenance costs, while their carpentry do not need such maintenance. We totally agree: how can you “maintain” something that has no life in it? But our carpentry is still alive!
Until 2010, we have not met yet 10-years-old carpentry to look better than ours or to be more functional. Those customers who did not change yet their old carpentry had only one single reason: financial problems!
There is a big difference between “changing a door” and “maintaining a door”.
Maybe aluminium resists with no deformation or breaking, but its paint still needs some repairs after being in direct sunlight (UV and temperature gradient summer/ winter) for a long time. Aluminium thermo-pane windows will need some “painting maintenance” from time to time.
- What kind of paints do you use on laminated wood carpentry?
- We use only top professional products – paints and enamels for laminated wood carpentry, made in Italy, Germany…
- How big can be the laminated windows and doors?
- Almost any dimension. The support system will “decide” over this matter. It is impossible to sustain ANY weight in only A FEW hinges. That is why we have to make some calculations on the building-site, before answering to your question.
